New CALI Lesson Interface (07/12/2011)

Starting in the 2011-2012 school year, CALI Lessons are going to look a lot different. Most importantly, we’re adding some of the most asked-for features.

– CALI Lessons will finally run on mobile devices like iPads and iPhones,
– student lesson runs and scores will be saved automatically in the students’ “My Lesson Runs” account profile section,
– copy and paste will be easier,
– faculty features will be built-in to the lesson and
– more features to come.

We’re hosting this live webcast to cover what’s changing, discuss our expected timeline for implementation, and answer your questions.

Rebooting CALI Webinars

In addition to hosting Law Librarian Conversations and Law School Tech Talk, we’d like to revive CALI webinars: live, 30 minute broadcasts on topics related to a specific piece of technology you can use in law school, often hosted by a volunteer expert on the topic. If you have ideas for a webinar or would like to host one of your own, contact us.

In the meantime, we’ve posted some of our previous webinars on this blog. Feel free to browse them (their posts are backdated).

Using Facebook Ads to Increase Page Fan (Webinar)

CALI started experimenting with Facebook Ads this July to improve stagnant Facebook Page fan growth at the time. Much to our surprise, we have nearly doubled fans since that time because of the ads.

While we invite anyone looking to increase Facebook fans to watch, this is a basic intro to Facebook Ads. The presentation is geared toward folks who maintain Facebook pages for their CALI member school or organization who have yet to try Facebook Ads.

So please forward this post along to your school’s marketing, communications, alumni relations, and/or recruiting departments.

UPDATE: At one point in the presentation I say don’t worry about CPM, implying that you shouldn’t create Facebook ads based on impressions. That’s not quite true. In recent campaign, click-through rates were were high enough that it was actually more economical to use CPM. Facebook calculates the CPM for ads that are based on CPC. If you’re having good luck with your click-through rates on your ad that is a pay per click ad, and you notice that your CPM for this ad is higher than what you would have to bid in a similar CPM ad, make a new ad just like that one, but pay based on CPM. That way you’ll get more clicks for the same budget!
